PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double line thermal head and a preheating thermal head difficult to realize heretofore. SOLUTION: Electrode films 105, 106 are patterned on a ceramic substrate and the portion exposed between the electrode films 105, 106 becomes a heating part. An insulating layer 107 are formed thereof and the surface thereof is polished to eliminate difference in level. The insulating layer 107 is constituted so as to easily transmit the heat generated in the heating part 104 to the surface of a thermal head. A resistor film 108 is patterned on the insulating layer 107 and electrode films 110, 111 are patterned on the resistor film 108. The portion exposed between the electrode films 110, 111 becomes a heating part 109. The heat generated in the heating part 104 is easily transmitted to the surface of the thermal head. Finally, a protective film 112 is formed and the surface thereof is polished to eliminate difference in level.
