摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for industrially and efficiently manufacturing an optical compensation sheet with a tilt aligned optical anisotropic layer which enlarges the viewing angle of a liquid crystal display element, when mounted on the liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing a long-size optical compensation sheet 25 provided with an optical anisotropic layer composed of a twist aligned liquid crystalline compound layer comprises transferring a long size transparent support body 12 provided with a resin layer 13 for forming an alignment layer on its surface to its longitudinal direction, while making the resin layer 13 into an alignment layer 16 by subjecting the surface of the resin layer 13 for forming an alignment layer to rubbing treatment, next coating a solution of a liquid crystalline compound on the surface of the alignment layer 16 and drying to form a liquid crystalline compound layer aligned in the rubbing direction, subsequently transferring a heated gas into a direction different from the direction of the rubbing treatment while bringing it into contact with the surface of the liquid crystalline compound layer, thereby aligning the liquid crystal compound on the surface side of the liquid crystal compound layer along the direction of the transfer of the heated gas and subsequently fixing the aligned state.
