PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for assuring sufficient gradation reproducibility, even with respect to a head incapable of sufficiently narrowing the capacity of drops of ink, when improving resolution. SOLUTION: An inflection point is provided in a level between highlight and shadow, and by switching a variable at that point, the rate of generation is suppressed at the highlight part but the down rate of generation can be returned to an original level at the shadow part. For an example shown in a figure (A), an input level '80' is defined as an inflection point and a formula dmax with a dxy as a variable (the maximum value of input image data) is switched. Although in the figure (A), there is only one inflection point and the formula is primary, they are not limited to these. Corresponding to the quantity of drops of ink and gradation characteristics, plural inflection points may also be provided or the formula higher than secondary can be used as shown in figures (B) and (C) as well. |
