PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously correct a beam spot diameter and a beam pitch in the case of the occurrence of environmental fluctuation and assembling adjustment with respect to a multi-beam optical scanner. SOLUTION: This multi-beam optical scanner has a light source unit 10 having at least a light source and an optical device and radiating plural luminous fluxes, a first image forming element 13 forming the image of the plural luminous fluxes from the unit 10 as respective linear images extending in a main scanning direction in the vicinity of a deflector, the deflector 14 reflecting the plural luminous fluxes by a deflecting and reflecting surface 14A and performing deflecting and scanning in the main scanning direction, and scanning optical systems 16-19 making the vicinity of the deflecting and reflecting surface of the deflector 14 and the vicinity of the surface to be scanned nearly optical conjugate relation in the sub-scanning direction; and the element 13 is displaced in an optical axis direction ((a) or(b) direction), and the crossing positions of the respective luminous fluxes before and after the displacement are in the vicinity of the deflector 14.
