Thixotropic (meth)acrylic copolymers and/or thixotropic polyesters (A) are used in dulling and/or texturing pastes containing 5-30 wt.% (A) and 15-45 wt.% dulling and/or texturing agent(s) (B) in a wt. ratio of (A):(B) = (1:6)-(1:8), plus 30-65 wt.% organic solvent(s) (C) and optionally surfactants, dispersants, rheology modifiers and/or catalysts etc. Independent claims are also included for (i) coating materials containing (a) film-forming binders, (b) optional crosslinkers, (c) dulling and/or texturing pastes (D/TP) as described and optionally solvents, pigments, fillers and normal paint additives etc.; (ii) a process for the production of matt or textured coating materials in which the D/TP is stored as a module and added to the coating material before use.
