An IC is mounted on a PCB (30, fig 1) packed within a casing provided by an upper section 10 and a lower section 20 secured together and surrounding the PCB with screws (11, fig 1). The PCB and IC thereon can be accessed by entering a code either through an interface 60 inserted into slot 12 and connected to a controller 50 or with a smart card (60, fig 3) or by entering a keyed code onto a plurality of keys 13 on the upper section using an interface (40, fig 2). Tampering can be detected by monitoring an electrical connection between nodes (14, 31, fig 1) on the upper section and the PCB if this connection is broken without a valid code having been entered then the data on the IC will be destroyed. |
