Examples are given of the preparation of 1-ethyl-4-b -(41 - methyl - thiaxanthone - 11 - amino) - ethyl piperazine and 11-ethyl- and 11-butyl-4-g -(41-methyl - thiazanthone - 11 - amino) - propyl piperazine and their hydrochlorides. 1-chloro-4-methyl-thiazanthone is obtained by reacting thiosalicylic acid with p-chlorotoluene.
