PURPOSE: A melody update system and method is provided to make it easy updating a melody of a wireless communication terminal by connecting the communication terminal to a serial port of a computer. CONSTITUTION: A melody update method comprises steps of a computer starting a melody update according to a user's request(300), loading a melody file on a memory of the computer(302), selecting the user's desired melody from the melody file(304), connecting a wireless communication terminal to a serial IO port of the computer(306), converting a current mode of the communication terminal into a melody update mode(308), selecting one title number among the melodies stored in the communication terminal to replace with an updated melody(310), transmitting the selected melody from the computer to the communication terminal(312), and assuring the transmission of the selected melody.
