PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an imaging apparatus for transferring a color image data at high rate in which print processing efficiency is enhanced by shortening the time required for transferring the image data from an image memory to a transfer buffer. SOLUTION: When print data are transferred from an image memory 10 to a transfer circuit for black 11B, a transfer circuit for yellow 11Y, a transfer circuit for cyan 11C, and a transfer circuit for magenta 11M, respectively, a transfer order buffer 36 is used. When a space region is present in the transfer circuit of some color, the color of that is set in the transfer order buffer 36 if the data of a color being transferred next is ready and the color of data ready for transfer is set at next order of the transfer order buffer. Print data is transferred according to the order set in the transfer order buffer.
