PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composite spun yarn having excellent wearing comfortableness and heat-dissipation property, free from stickiness and wet feeling and useful for woven or knit fabrics, etc., by including a prescribed amount of a highly water-absorbing synthetic fiber at the inner layer. SOLUTION: The objective composite spun yarn is composed of a hydrophobic fiber such as polyester fiber and polyamide fiber and a highly water-absorbing synthetic fiber such as a highly water-absorbing acrylonitrile fiber. The amount of the highly water-absorbing synthetic fiber is 3-30 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the total spun fiber and the highly water-absorbing fiber is positioned mainly at the inner layer side when the cross section of the yarn is divided into a surface layer and an inner layer. The water-swelling degree of the highly water- absorbing synthetic fiber is >=2 mL/g, the surface layer contains <=5 pts.wt. of the highly water-absorbing synthetic fiber, the surface layer is a region from the surface of the yarn to the depth corresponding to 1/3 of the radius of the yarn cross section and the inner side is a core region having a radius corresponding to 2/3 of the yarn radius.
