PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for emitting light over a long period of time, and to obtain a light-emitting composition to be used therefor. SOLUTION: This method for emitting light is characterized by that a solid fuel- or gunpowder-contg. energy-generating member is ignited to generate energy from the member and the energy thus generated is absorbed into an energy-reserving light-emitting member from which light is emitted. The other objective light-emitting composition to be used for the above method is characterized by comprising a solid fuel- or gunpowder-contg. energy-generating member and an energy-reserving light-emitting member capable of absorbing energy generated by the combustion or explosion of the energy-generating member and of emitting light.
