PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rudder which generates a sufficient lift, increases the vessel speed by reducing the rudder resistance, realizes the small size of a steering mechanism by reducing the rudder area, makes in an optimum condition in the fluid mechanics respect by making it possible to reduce the rudder main body and the vessel body length, and can obtain a sufficient maneuvability or maneuvable force in the minimum rudder area. SOLUTION: It is considered that the rudder is in the acceleration flow at the rear flow of a propeller, and the attention is payed that the horizontal section form of a rudder main body 11 is compared with a streamline form, so as to make the head part in a round form, and the tail part in a slender form. And when the ratio of the length X from the front end edge 11A of the rudder main body 11 to the full length C is made X/C, the ratio of the thickness T in the horizontal section at the position X/C to the maximum thickness Tmax is made T/Tmak, and the 1/2 of the T/Tmax is made Y, the following formulars are accomplished; 0.25<=Y5%<=0.33, 0.35<=Y10%<=0.43, 0.11<=Y80%<=0.17, and 0.03<=Y90%<=0.08.
