When mobile station wishes to transfer data to another station which is temporarily unavailable, one of the stations selects from others in the network, a suitable one to provide a temporary storage facility. A confirmation is then requested from the selected station that it is actually able to receive the and store the data and to retransmit it to its final storage destination. Independent claims are included for: (a) a device transmitting data in a cellular network; (b) a base station in a cellular network; (c) a mobile station in a cellular network; (d) and the application of the data transmission method to a mobile call generator such as camera, camcorder, facsimile, copier, photographic camera, scanner, printer, computer, or a TV receiver.
