PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and a system for mobile communication that can conduct voice communication with high quality in average while suppressing reduction in a channel efficiency in the case of the system adopting a plurality of different voice coding methods. SOLUTION: A 1st voice coding system (a) is assigned (step S19) to a request of the 1st voice coding system (a) whose coding rate is low in the case of a setup request from a mobile station (step S11). In the case of a request from a mobile station having provision for both voice coding systems (a), (b) and of the 2nd voice coding system (b) whose coding speed is high, whether or not a channel utilizing rate of a resident radio zone is smaller than a threshold is decided (step S13), and when decided as smaller, whether or not a channel adopting the 2nd voice coding system (b) is idle is decided (step S15). When the channel is idle, the 2nd voice coding system (b) is adopted (step S17).
