PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the merchandise pay-out device of an automatic vending machine capable of automatically setting the passage width of a merchandise passage to an appropriate width corresponding to housed merchandise without using a manual regulation plate or the like, enlarging the setting range and surely paying out the merchandise piece by piece. SOLUTION: This merchandise pay-out device 1 is provided with a lower gate 6 freely turnable between a projected position for supporting the plural pieces of the merchandise S and a withdrawn position for paying out sales merchandise S1, a lower gate driving means for holding the lower gate 6 at the projected position at the time of sales standby and turning it to the withdrawn position at the time of sales, an upper gate 5 capable of locking the merchandise S2 to be sold next by being projected to the merchandise passage 2 and abutted to the merchandise 32 to be sold next at the time of the sales standby and turnable to the withdrawn position of being withdrawn from the merchandise passage 2, a locking means 10 for determining the projection amount of the upper gate 5 by locking the upper gate 5 when the upper gate 5 is abutted to the merchandise S2 to be sold next and an upper gate unlocking mechanism for unlocking the upper gate 5 when the lower gate 6 is restored to the projected position after the sales.
