PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To judge whether a paste amount is proper, not a paste color. SOLUTION: In a paste inspecting apparatus, continuous paper is fed by rollers 12, 14, 16 and a paste ejecting device 20 ejects a large numbrer of particles of paste 22 to bond them to the continuous paper 10 in a dot shape at a predetermined position. An illumination device 24 illuminates the paste 22 on the continuous paper 10 obliquely and a video camera 26 takes the image of the illuminated paste 22 from the area just above the continuous paper 10. An image processing circuit 28 extracts a shade part from the image signal from the video camera 26 to calculate the width and length or area thereof. A judge circuit 30 judges whether the paste 22 is sufficient from the respective particles of the paste or the length and width or area of the shade of the particles of the paste 22 properly sampled within one screen.
