A device for collecting urine includes a container (1) kept at vacuum, an interface (27) locatable at the urethral opening of a person and a pump (4) operable to create a vacuum within the container (1). A sensor senses the presence of urine at the interface (27) and opens a valve (8) to allow the pumping of urine from the interface (27) to the container (1).
