A mechanism for opening an up and over door (1) has a compression spring (7) which can be enclosed in a housing and which is connected by a connecting means (4) to the door so that, when the door is closed, the spring exerts a force on the door in an opening direction. The door may be mounted in frame and the connecting means, preferably an arm, and the spring may be mounted on a plate attached to the frame. The door may be a garage door. |
