PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new microorganism of the genus Streptomyces, having iron-cyano complex-decomposing ability, capable of readily and efficiently decomposing a cyano compound contained in waste water, etc., in soil under weakly alkaline conditions thereby and useful for environmental clean-up, etc. SOLUTION: This new microorganism has ability to decompose an iron-cyano complex such as potassium ferrocyanide. Furthermore, the microorganism of the genus Streptomyces is Streptomyces gannmycicus having ability to decompose a metal-cyano complex such as a nickel-cyano complex, preferably Streptomyces gannmycicus KR21-2B strain (FERM P-17330) of a new bacterial strain having ability to decompose cyano compound. Further, purification of industrial waste water, etc., containing ferrocyanide, etc., is preferably carried out by using the Streptomyces gannmycicum KR21-2B strain.
