PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an optically anisotropic film having a high chromatic dispersion in retardation and useful for nonlinear optical elements, liquid crystal display devices or the like by including a polymer and a specific compound. SOLUTION: The objective film having a retardation value measured at 550 nm wavelength of 50-3,000 nm and an α value defined below of >=1.07 is produced by including a polymer and at least one of compounds of the formula [wherein, R1 and R2 are each H, F, trifluoromethyl or the like; A1 and A2 are each a (substituted) 1,4-cyclohexylene or the like; A2 is a (substituted) 1,4- phenylene or the like; (p) and (r) are each 0 or 1; (m) and (n) are each 0-2; (q) is 1-3]. The α value is equal with the value of RF/RD [wherein, RF is a retardation value when measured at a wavelength corresponding to the hydrogen F line (wavelength 486 nm); RD is a retardation value when measured at a wavelength corresponding to the sodium D line (wavelength 589 nm)]. The content of the compound of the formula is 1-15 wt.% based on the total weight of the polymer and the compound itself. |
