PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a harvester for root crops hardly raising the soil of a field upward by a colter of a digging device when digging and harvesting carrots in the field, hardly scraping in the soil by the tip part of a nipping and conveying belt even if the carrot is pulled out, excellent in pulling-out properties, and having a long-life nipping and conveying belt. SOLUTION: This harvester for root crops has a colter 27b of a digging device 5 constituted so that the angleθbetween a ridge surface of a field and the colter 27b may form the right angle or an obtuse angle tilted forward. As a result, the soil is not scraped in by the tip part of a nipping and conveying belt 28a for pulling up the carrot A, because the soil at both sides of the carrot A is cut and divided, and dug by the colter 27b, but the colter 27b acts so as to push down the dug soil, and does not act so as to raise the soil. Further, the pulling up properties of the nipping and conveying belt 28a is hardly decreased, the damage of a pulling-up and conveying device 28 is decreased, and its life is elongated because the soil is not attached to the nipping and conveying belt 28a.
