Homokinetic tripod joint with reduced vibrational characteristics and low torque containing a fraction-reducing grease, useful in power transmission couplings of engines

The use of a grease containing a molybdenum disulfide additive gives improved lubrication and has a favorable effect on induced torque and mechanical life of the joint. Preferred Features: The joint comprises an external element provided with grooves formed in the axial direction at equal intervals round the internal circumference. Roller guideways extend in the axial direction of the two sides of the grooves and tripod element comprising gudgeons protruding in the radial direction and disposed at equal intervals round the circumference and roller bearings mounted on the respective gudgeons. The joint is filled with a grease and the roller bearings run within the raceways. The internal surface of the joint casing is submitted to a hammering treatment to reduce residual surface stresses and also to reduce vibration and extend service life. An Independent claim is also included for the grease composition and its frictional and wear characteristics.
