Described is a method for promoting or modifying plant growth and/or yield and/or architecture in plants comprising the increased expression of at leas t two cell cycle interacting proteins, in particular of a protein kinase, e.g. CDK, and a cyclin. Transgenic plants are provided obtainable by this method and displaying increased cell division rates and growth rates. In addition, harvestable parts and propagation material of the above-mentioned plant as well as the use of the provided cells, tissues and plants for the production of biomass, secondary metabolites or additives for plant culturing in plant culture.
