PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent forgery made by use of a scanner, a personal computer and a printer by enabling highly reliable forgery discrimination by mechanical reading. SOLUTION: Precious printed matter is given a mechanically readable material 2 on a base material, simultaneous detection is carried out by a visible ray photoreceptacle sensor, a UV ray receptacle sensor 7, and an infrared ray photoreceptacle sensor 10 relative to the material 2 in reference of a reflection state of reflecting light in the wavelength area of a visible ray, a reflection state of reflecting light in the wavelength area of a UV ray, and a luminous state of a specific wavelength at irradiating a specific wavelength in the wavelength of an infrared ray, so that forgery is discriminated on the basis of these detected states.
