PURPOSE: A nematic liquid crystal composition and a reflection liquid type crystal display for an active matrix application are provided to increase the voltage sustain ratio of the liquid crystal composition and to reduce the double refraction. CONSTITUTION: A nematic liquid crystal composition for an active matrix application includes following materials. 5 to 15% of at least one composition selected from a group of chemical composition expressed as R1-C6H6-C6H6-F is included in the composition. 30 to 40% of at least one composition selected from a group of chemical composition expressed as R21-C6H6-C6H6-R22 is included in the composition. 25 to 35% of at least one composition selected from a group of chemical composition expressed as R3-C6H6-C6H6-C6H6-F3 is included in the composition. 10 to 20% of at least one composition selected from a group of chemical composition expressed as R4-C6H6-C6H6-Z4-C6H6-F2 is included in the composition. 8 to 12% of at least one composition selected from a group of chemical composition expressed as R51-C6H6-C6H6-COO-C6H6-R52 is included in the composition. 4 to 8% of at least one composition selected from a group of chemical composition expressed as R61-C6H6-C6H6-COO-C6H6-C6H6-R62 is included in the composition.
