PURPOSE: A method for reductive dehalogenation of halogenated hydrocarbons by heating finely dispersed powder containing halogenated hydrocarbons is provided which improves reaction efficiency and reduces reaction temperatures. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises converting toxic liquid or solid halogenated hydrocarbons such as DDT, HCH, in particular halogenated aromatic compounds itself such as TCB, PCB, PCP and PCDD/PCDF, or waste oil contaminated thereby or soil or soil like material to finely dispersed solid mixtures and heating the mixtures in the presence of a finely dispersed reducing metal and a hydrogen donating compound at 80 to 400°C. The method can resolve environmental problems by halogenated hydrocarbons.
