PURPOSE: A system, method and recording medium are provided to allow designation for a mesh split of an observation area to be performed with efficiency and accuracy through a simple operation. CONSTITUTION: A system comprises a video camera(6) for obtaining a specimen picture by picking up a specimen, and an observation side personal computer(1) and a client side personal computer(5) for recording a still picture including the picked up specimen picture, detecting a position of the specimen picture from the still picture, splitting an area where the specimen picture exists into blocks of a predetermined unit, and displaying the lines indicative of the blocks onto monitors(2,4) in such a manner as to be superposed onto the still picture.
