PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the switching operation optimal and smooth between two magnetic heads. SOLUTION: This tape recorder is provided with one rotational fulcrum 16h, first and second bases 59 and 60 individually rotatable around the rotational fulcrum, first and second magnetic heads 62 and 63 respectively arranged in the first and second bases, a tape traveling lever 16 for rotating the first or second base and causing a tape to travel in a direction for approaching the first or second magnetic head to the tape, and a head switching lever 58 moved and operated between a first regulation position for regulating the rotational movement of the first base and a second regulation position for regulating the rotational movement of the second base.
