PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discriminating method capable of discriminating a compact disk(CD) recording disk and an MP3 recording disk. SOLUTION: Concerning this discriminating method, while paying attention on the MP3 recording disk is recorded and prepared by the disk recording device of a CD system, a disk dedicated to reproducing and a disk for recording are discriminated so that a disk discriminated as the disk dedicated to reproducing is discriminated as the CD recording disk. Thus, the CD recording disk dedicated to reproducing is discriminated without reproducing the disk. Then, only the disk discriminated as the disk for recording by the discrimination of the disk dedicated to reproducing and the disk for recording is reproduced and the CD recording disk and the MP3 recording disk are discriminated.
