<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a characteristic evaluating system for an optical device capable of effectively and easily evaluating characteristics of the device by using a wavelength variable short pulse light source. SOLUTION: A short pulse output from an fs fiber laser 1 is incident on an optical fiber 3, and a wavelength shifted fs soliton pulse S is generated by means of a nonlinear effect of the fiber 3. A wavelength of the pulse S can be substantially linearly changed merely by changing an intensity of an exciting pulse R. The pulse S is incident to a device 4 to be measured, and a time response is observed by using a sampling oscilloscope 5. Further, its observed result is Fourier transformed by using a personal computer 6, and frequency response characteristics of the device 4 are obtained.</p> |
