PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dielectric material for a plasma display panel which has a high coefft. of thermal expansion suitable for a high strain point glass, in which bubbles are easily removed during calcining and from which a transparent dielectric layer having no large bubbles remaining in the layer can be formed. SOLUTION: This dielectric material for a plasma display panel consists of 90 to 100 wt.% glass power and 0 to 10 wt.% of ceramic powder. In this material, the glass powder has the compsn. of, by wt.%, 15 to 45% BaO, 20 to 45% ZnO, 15 to 35% B2O3, 3 to 15 wt.% SiO2 and 0 to 24.5% PbO.
