PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing medium having good water-stopping properties, especially as the packing for hot water storage tanks and high stage tanks as well which require severe service conditions. SOLUTION: A sealing medium is obtained by heating a composition comprising (A) 50-90 pts.wt. vinyl chloride resin and (B) 50-10 pts.wt. functional group- containing polyvinyl chloride resin provided that the sum of components (A) and (B) is 100 pts.wt., 3-20 pts.wt. acrylonitrile butadiene copolymer resin containing functional groups reactive with functional group-containing polyvinyl chloride resin (B) and having fluidity at normal temperatures, 50-100 pts.wt. plasticizer, and 2-10 pts.wt. heat decomposable chemical blowing agent to effect foaming and crosslinking.
