PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press to elevate/lower a slide by continuously providing different slide driving devices capable of improving the productivity and the product accuracy by the stable slide stroke speed and the pressure to be applied. SOLUTION: Slide drive devices comprises a screw type slide drive device 11 to elevate/lower a slide 9 by rotating a male screw member 15, and a hydraulic cylinder type slide drive device 21 to elevate/lower the slide 9 by a hydraulic cylinder 22. The hydraulic cylinder type slide drive device 21 is driven only in a forming area in one stroke by receiving the position detection signal of a preset slide position detector 17. The screw type slide drive device 11 elevates/ lowers the slide 9 in the whole area of one stroke, and is rapidly elevated/ lowered in elevating/lowering range other than the forming range, and controls the restriction so that the slide stroke speed of the screw type slide drive device 11 is synchronized to the slide stroke speed of the preset hydraulic cylinder slide drive device 21 in the forming range.
