PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-repelling knitted fabric which scarcely gives a stuffy touch or a wet touch even when it rains or a wearer sweats, by knitting a knitted fabric at a high gauge so that highly shrinkable yarns are arranged in the inner portion of the fabric and on its back surface and so that specific false-twisted yarns cover the surface of the knitted fabric. SOLUTION: This water-repelling knitted fabric is obtained by knitting a knitted fabric having a METSUKE of >=100 g/m2 and a high stitch density of 50-120 stitches/2.54 cm and 50-80 stitches/2.54 cm in the course direction and in the wale direction, respectively, at a high gauge of >=28 G so that highly shrinkable polyester-based yarns having a shrinkage rate of 10-45% are arranged in the inner portion of the knitted fabric and on its surface and so that false- twisted polyester yarns having a total fineness of 30-100 d, a single filament fineness of 0.2-3.0 d and the crimp number of 3-45% cover at least the surface of the knitted fabric, calendering the knitted fabric to smoothen its surface, and then applying a water-repelling treatment using a fluororesin or the like to the smoothened surface. The obtained water-repelling knitted fabric has a water pressure resistance of >=150 mm and an air permeability of 5-50 cc/cm2 sec. |
