PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image pickup device, an image pickup method and a storage medium capable of obtaining suitable white balance when an electronic flash is used. SOLUTION: The brightness of an image pickup surface of a CCD to be an image pickup element in exposure is measured by a dimming sensor 17, and when a measured value exceeds a prescribed value, it is judged that an electronic flash has been operated and the data of white balance are changed from data obtained before exposure to data in exposure. Thus suitable white balance can be obtained by measuring color temperature before exposure in automatic white balance, judging the execution of electronic flash emission from a change in light quantity in exposure or changes in the color temperature before exposure and in exposure and rewriting white balance data from the value obtained before exposure to the value obtained in exposure or a previously determined for an electronic flash emitting value, so that color balance is not easily destructed at the time of executing image processing.
