PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for attaining high-level cache memory management in asynchronous I/O cache. SOLUTION: This data managing method is provided with a step for identifying the generation of a request to data in a system memory from a device and the absence of the requested data in a data storage area 204 of a cache memory 128 at present and a step for reading data out of a system memory to the data storage area 204. The cache memory is evaluated and it is judged whether an area larger than a prescribed size can be immediately used in the data storage area 204 or not. Further, only when the area larger than the prescribed size can be immediately used, one part of data in the data storage area 204 is flushed.
