PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly transmit light radiated from a light source to the inside of a body cavity without waste. SOLUTION: A condensing lens 27, a light source lamp 28 and a stepping motor 29 are arranged in a processor 20. Besides, an LCB 11 is arranged in an electronic endoscope 10. Then, the endoscope 10 is connected to the processor 20. By driving the motor 29, the lens 27 is moved in an optical axis direction within a moving range. Then, the position of the lens 27 set when the maximum luminance value in the luminance value produced from the image signal of the body cavity S is detected within the moving range is adopted as the optimum position and the lens 27 is moved to the optimum position. By moving the lens 27 to the optimum position, the light radiated from the lamp 28 and made to pass through the lens 27 is properly transmitted to the LCB 11 without waste.
