PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent malfunction due to the abnormality of a control program. SOLUTION: This disk drive 1 which operates on the basis of a control program 9 stored in a memory 8 is provided with a CPU 4 operating on the basis of an initial start program 7 started by the power in putting of the drive 1 and subsequently on the basis of control program 9. The CPU 4 checks the program 9 by using the program 7, and when a defect is found in the program 9, the CPU 4 stops the execution and notifies a host computer 11 of in through a transmitting means 2. The CPU 4 rewrites the program 9 by using a rewriting program 12 on the basis of an instruction from the computer 11. |
