PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide communications equipment for shortening the time required for facilitating taking countermeasures to capability between terminal equipment in an initial procedure until the start of multi-media communication. SOLUTION: This communications equipment connected with plural networks for relaying communication between terminal equipment via the network is provided with storing means 11 and 12 for holding information indicating the terminal capability of each terminal equipment or the communication capabilities of the plural networks. When terminal capability information transmitted from the terminal equipment at a calling side exceeds the communication capability of the network with which the terminal equipment at an incoming side is connected or the terminal capability of the terminal equipment at the incoming side stored in the storing means 11 and 12, a rejection response is transmitted to the terminal equipment at the calling side.
