摘要 The invention relates to a method of preparing an aryl chloroformate of formula (I) wherein n is an integer from 1 to 5, and R1 represents hydrogen, a branched or unbranched alkyl group having from 1-15 carbon atoms, an aryl group which may be substituted or unsubstituted, a cycloaliphatic group which may be substituted or unsubstituted, or an arylalkyl group which may be substituted or unsubstituted, comprising the steps of: a) simultaneously supplying to a reaction vessel, optionally containing a precharge solution comprising phosgene and an inert organic solvent, 1) an inert organic solvent, 2) a monofunctional hydroxyaromatic compound of formula (II), wherein n and R1 in formula (II) has the same meaning as n and R1 in formula (I), 3) phosgene and 4) an aqueous caustic solution, where a first molar rate ratio of phosgene to monofunctional hydroxyaromatic compound is maintained in a first range of from about 1.25 to about 10 moles of phosgene per mole of monofunctional hydroxyaromatic compound introduced into the reaction vessel, and a second molar rate ratio of caustic to phosgene is maintained in a second range of from about 0.6 to about 1.0 equivalents of caustic per mole of phosgene introduced into the reaction vessel, the first and second molar rate ratios being maintained within the first and second ranges until a total monofunctional hydroxyaromatic compound level is reached; b) upon reaching the total monofunctional hydroxyaromatic compound level, optionally discontinuing introduction of the monofunctional hydroxyaromatic compound into the reaction vessel, while optionally maintaining the flow of phosgene and caustic to the reaction vessel, with the molar rate ratio of caustic to phosgene introduced into the reaction vessel being maintained in the second range until from 0 to about 1 mole of phosgene per mole of total monofunctional hydroxyaromatic compound is supplied to the reaction vessel, in excess of the phosgene in the reaction vessel after step a), and thereafter c) maintaining the pH of the contents of the reaction vessel at a pH of from about 2 to about 5 for a period of time sufficient to stabilize the contents of the reaction vessel.
