PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrophotographic photoreceptor having high sensitivity to light of a long wavelength and forming an image at a high forming rate under easy control of forming action at a low production cost, and to provide an image forming method using the photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The photoreceptor 1 has an undercoat layer 3 and a photoconductive layer 4 on the electrically conductive substrate 2. The undercoat layer 3 contains surface-treated titanium dioxide and a bonding resin, the surface treatment is alumina, silica or aluminum laurate treatment and the weight ratio of the titanium dioxide to the bonding resin is 5.0-30.0, or the undercoat layer 3 contains surface-untreated titanium dioxide and the bonding resin and the weight ratio of the titanium dioxide to the bonding resin is 3.0-30.0, or the undercoat layer 3 contains optionally surface-treated zinc oxide and a bonding resin, the surface treatment is alumina or silica treatment and the weight ratio of the zinc oxide to the bonding resin is 1.5-30.0. The photoconductive layer 4 contains oxo-titanyl phthalocyanine,τ- or X-form metal- free phthalocyanine having a specified X-ray diffraction spectrum. |
