PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated fiber for optical fiber which fully satisfies all of environmental characteristics such as flame-retardance, optical characteristics, a low temperature, a high temperature and wet heat, and mechanical characteristics such as side pressure and the like, by constituting a coated layer of two non-halogen-containing layers. SOLUTION: This coated fiber comprises an optical fiber 2, an ultra-violet curing resin layer 3 for coating an outer circumferential part of the optical fiber 2, and a coating layer 4 for covering the resin layer 3. The coating layer 4 is composed of a non-halogen-containing polyolefin resin layer 5 and a non- halogen-containing polystylene resin layer 6 to satisfy all of environmental characteristics such as flame-resistance, optical characteristics, low temperature, high temperature and wet heat, and mechanical characteristics such as side pressure.
