PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a halftone processing method for eliminating or reducing the non-continuity of gradation reproduction more efficiently compared with an error propagation method. SOLUTION: This halftone processing method is provided with a process for obtaining the position and pixel value of the pixel under consideration of an input image, the process for correcting the pixel value, the process for selecting a threshold closest to the corrected pixel value among the thresholds not inhibited in the thresholds allocated to the pixel value, the process for calculating the error of the corrected pixel value and the selected threshold and the process for propagating the error around the pixel under consideration. The process for correcting the pixel value is corrected by the propagated error and the selected threshold is outputted to an output device capable of coping with the allocated threshold.
