PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting method, for a moving body, in which the position of the moving body (a rent-a-car) can be detected quickly by a base station in a position at a distance from the moving body (the rent-a-car). SOLUTION: In this position detecting method for a moving body, the position of a mobile radio device 11 loaded on the moving body 10 is detected via the transmission-reception of a radio-wave signal at a specific frequency between the mobile radio device 11 and a base station 1. The position of the mobile radio device 11 is detected by a position detecting means in the mobile radio device 11. Information on the position of the detected mobile radio device 11 is transmitted to the base station 1 by a transmitting means in the mobile radio device 11. The information on the position of the mobile radio device 11 is received by a receiving means in the base station 1. The position of the mobile radio device 11 is output by an output means in the base station 1.
