<p>The present invention provides methods of reversibly lowering blood pressure comprising administration of a blood pressure-lowering effective amount of an ultra-short acting opioid. The present invention also provides methods of reversibly lowering blood pressure while also providing analgesia, anesthesia and/or creating conscious sedation comprising administration of a blood pressure-lowering effective amount of the ultra-short acting opioid, remifentanil, in peri-operative or intensive care settings wherein said effective amount is capable of reversibly lowering blood pressure in said mammal while also providing analgesia, anesthesia and/or creating conscious sedation.</p> |
