Rapid action tool stop/release device for mechanical/hydraulic press consists of two mandrels on tool acting with apertures in press slide/bar, and locking wedges

The device is for e.g. a forging hammer, bending tool, etc. Two mandrels (24), each with opening (25), are fastened to the tool (17) to project from its upper end face. Two apertures in the slide/cross bar of the press accommodate the mandrels to couple the tools to the slide/bar. A pair of locking wedges (28) are located radial to the apertures, and act with the opening in each mandrel, to clamp the two together. An actuator unit (30,32,33) on the slide/bar moves the wedges between locking and release positions, for fitting/removal of the tools.
