Connecting rod for a reciprocating piston engine

The connecting rod has a small eye (20), a shaft (22) and a large eye. The small eye and shaft are made from a lighter metal whilst the entire large eye (24) is made from heavy metal. The section (14) with the large eye has an attachment (26) for connecting with the shaft. The heavy metal is steel whilst the lighter metal is titanium.
