PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately find the insertion length of an endoscope insertion section by forming an index on an insertion auxiliary tool. SOLUTION: An index is formed on the outer periphery of a guide tube 10. The index is constituted of scale lines formed at prescribed intervals and scale numbers formed on prescribed scale lines. Each scale number indicates the distance from the tip 10A of the guide tube 10 to the scale line and the distance from the rear end 10B of the guide tube 10 to the scale line. When the index on the guide tube 10 and the index formed on an endoscope insertion section 102 are used together, the insertion length of the endoscope insertion section 102 inserted into the body cavity of a subject 1 can be accurately grasped.
