PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foldable roof preventing application of excessive stress to a pin in a hinge even when a member arranged between travel paths on both left and right sides of the roof is deflected. SOLUTION: A foldable type retractable roof device is provided with a supporting shaft 18 journalled freely rotationally to left and right traveling bodies traveling on parallel travel paths in the edges of the opening part of a roof and a hanger trussed girder 12 supported above the center of gravity in the supporting shaft 18 so as to be always kept vertically. A great number of the hanger trussed girders 12 are arranged movably in the longitudinal direction, and between the hanger trussed girders 12 in the front and back sides, a joint member 13 bendable upward when an interval of between the trussed girders 12 is arranged via hinges 22, 23. At the same time, a film material 14 constituting a roof is arranged above the joint member 13, and a great number of the joint members 13 are arranged independently of each other while spaced laterally between the hanger trussed girders 12.
