PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder in which ink can be ejected stably from a nozzle opening regardless of fluctuation in the number of pressure generating elements to be driven. SOLUTION: In an ink jet recorder, the number of pressure generating elements to be driven is counted by a counter circuit 87 during next recording cycle. A waveform generating circuit 85 reads out parameters corresponding to the count from a memory 81 and generates a drive signal COM having such a waveform as correcting distortion of waveform caused by parasitic inductance if the number of pressure generating elements to be driven is high. Consequently, a drive signal COM having an optimal waveform can be applied constantly to the pressure generating element regardless of fluctuation in the number of pressure generating elements to be driven.
